Overview of the Canada Plastics Pact and Generate Canada

The Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) is made up of a diverse mix of leading organizations and governments from across Canada’s plastics value chain, who are committed to eliminating plastic waste and pollution, by advancing a circular economy for plastics.

We are one of five solution spaces of Generate Canada in partnership with the Smart Prosperity Institute, whose shared vision is a strong and inclusive economy that thrives within nature’s limits.

We are a member of the Plastics Pact Network convened by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the Waste and Resource Action Programme (WRAP); the Canada Plastics Pact is aligned with a shared global vision to eliminate plastic waste and pollution—while tailoring actions and solutions to meet Canada’s unique needs and challenges.

Why Join the Canada Plastics Pact?

  • Work at the intersection of sustainable plastics, innovation, and policy.
  • Lead purpose-driven communications that help shape national action on plastics.
  • Collaborate with forward-thinking organizations committed to environmental impact.
  • CPP is imminently launching a major nation-wide engagement campaign to dramatically shift practices toward a circular economy of plastics across all industries. The Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications will play a leading role in development and execution of this campaign.

Role Summary

The Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for CPP’s marketing and communications strategy and execution to elevate our voice, engage our Partners, and accelerate Canada’s transition to a circular plastics economy.

Strategic Communications & Brand Leadership

  • Lead CPP’s flagship campaign - the National Agenda for Plastics Action - and position CPP as a top voice in Canada’s circular plastics transition.
  • Drive strategy and lead the execution of a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy aligned with CPP’s strategic priorities, including brand positioning, audience segmentation and consistent brand messaging across all touchpoints.
  • Lead ongoing alignment of messaging with Generate Canada, the Global Plastic Pact Network, and other key collaborators identified by senior leadership.
  • Shape CPP’s strategy by actively monitoring and interpreting relevant news coverage, public discourse, and emerging narratives related to plastics, circularity, and climate to inform positioning and ensure messaging remains current and credible.
  • Prepare talking points, media kits, and briefing materials for CPP leadership and Partner representatives as needed.

Campaigns, Content & Digital Engagement

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated campaigns—including CPP’s National Agenda for Plastics Action—to mobilize public awareness and national momentum toward a circular plastics economy.
  • Create compelling content across platforms and formats, including reports, press releases, Partner stories, op-eds, social media, and web copy.
  • Strengthen CPP’s brand visibility and credibility through coordinated communications that highlight impact, share Partner initiatives, and amplify CPP’s leadership voice across Canada’s plastics value chain.
  • Manage CPP’s digital presence (website, LinkedIn, newsletters, etc.) as a core channel for stakeholder engagement, storytelling, and thought leadership.
  • Ensure that content and campaigns are optimized for digital, using analytics to refine messaging, increase reach, and deepen engagement.

Partner Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across Generate Canada, the Global Pact Network and others to ensure alignment and strengthen collective impact.
  • Build and maintain relationships with CPP Partners to surface stories, identify risks, and inform marketing & communications strategies.
  • Develop marketing materials and toolkits that support Partner recruitment, retention, and internal communications.
  • Coordinate communications for CPP-hosted events, workshops, and webinars.
  • Lead the National Agenda for Plastics Action Working Group, integrating its insights into broader storytelling and engagement efforts.
