Qualifications

• Has completed a Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker certificate.
• A certificate in medication management is desirable and on-site medication administration training is required.
• Must have or are prepared to get and maintain First Aid and CPR, Safe Food Handling, TLR, WHMIS and Housekeeping training.
• Has completed a minimum of grade 12.
• Preference given to individuals with experience in long-term care or retirement residence; English fluency is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to residents including cognitive, social and emotional support, according to their plan of care and in a manner that promotes comfort and safety.
• Performs nursing care procedures in accordance with the standards of resident care; follows infection control protocols.
• Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and WHMIS; participates in in-services and fire drills.
• Completes all required mandatory training/education.
• Assists in delivering Life Enrichment programs and activities.
• Completes nursing documentation accurately and maintains health records in compliance with legislation.
• Assists in monitoring and evaluating outcomes of interventions and suggests improvements.
• Performs other tasks as delegated by the LPN/Health and Wellness Manager or General Manager.
