Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Recreation Aide to assist in planning and implementing engaging programs for residents under the supervision of the Recreation Manager.

The role includes maintaining activity records, communicating with residents and families, attending in-service education, and supporting meals when needed. A college diploma in recreation or Gerontology and experience with seniors are required.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of activities.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed on best practices for elder care.
• Participate in team meetings to plan activities aligned with residents' interests.
• Assist with scheduled outings and activities for residents.
• Support with meal services as required.
• Adhere to Extendicare's Code of Conduct and values.
