Job summary

Extendicare (Canada) Inc. is seeking a part-time Recreation & Leisure Practitioner to help plan, organize and implement meaningful programs for residents, in collaboration with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director.

You will support assessments, documentation, and participation tracking while communicating with residents, families and staff. The role requires a post-secondary diploma in recreation/leisure or related field, healthcare experience, and strong program planning skills.

Qualifications

• Proof of successful completion of a post-secondary diploma, degree or certificate in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or related field.
• Health care setting experience and knowledge of geriatric programming preferred.
• Strong program planning, care planning, assessments, and evaluation for older adults.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Must provide Vulnerable Sector Check and TB test documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing meaningful resident programs.
• Maintain department records, assessments, and participation charts.
• Foster communication with residents, families, volunteers, and staff.
• Participate in in-service education and team meetings.
• Assist with outings, daily activities, and restorative dining.
• Uphold Extendicare's values and comply with the Code of Conduct.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
