Job summary

AgeCare in Canada is seeking a Recreation Aide to assess, plan, implement and evaluate activities for residents. You will work with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director to deliver meaningful programs promoting wellbeing.

The role requires a college diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies or Gerontology, plus experience with seniors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a valid driver's license are preferred, with a compassionate, energetic approach to elder care.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
  • Experience working with seniors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid provincial driver's license may be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing and implementing programs with the Recreation Manager.
  • Maintain department records, assessments and program evaluations.
  • Maintain communication with residents, families and staff; inform about events.
  • Attend in-service education on elder care trends.
  • Participate in team meetings to plan resident-focused programs.
  • Facilitate resident outings as scheduled.
  • Assist with assessing resident activity levels.
  • Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities.
  • Assist with meal services as required.
  • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
  • Uphold our values and code of conduct.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
