Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Resident Programs Aide to assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful activities for residents in our long-term care facilities. You will work with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director to create engaging programs and monitor participation.

The role requires a college diploma in Recreation or Gerontology, experience with seniors, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office and a background in healthcare are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience working with seniors is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly is required.
  • Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents in collaboration with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director.
  • Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of planned programs.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
