In Alberta, this includes ourMacKay River and Dover oilsands projects, Duvernay Shale Gas and a 50% interestin the Grand Rapids Pipeline. In British Columbia, we hold joint ventureinterests in the Groundbirch tight gas project and LNG Canada.
TheSeniorITSystem Administrator isresponsible for comprehensive management, maintenance, and security of theorganization’s IT and OT system infrastructure, including servers, storagesystems, operating systems, user access, M365 and meeting room ITequipment.This role ensures system reliability, performance, and compliance throughregular inspections, proactive monitoring, and structured administrativeprocesses.
Accountabilities
Theaccountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
1.Server & Storage Infrastructure Management
- Deploy,configure, and maintain virtual and physical servers across corporate IT and OT environments, about 100 virtual servers on Azure/AWS cloud, about 100 virtualservers on premises, about 20 physical servers
- Manage storagesolutions (e.g., NetApp) including provisioning, capacity planning, andperformance optimization.
- Conduct regularhealth checks on physical servers and storage hardware; identify and replacefailed components.
- Maintain andmonitor virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) to ensure efficient utilizationof CPU, memory, storage, and network resources.
2. User & Access Management
- Manage the fulllifecycle of about 300 user accounts across systems covering Active Directory,Azure Entra ID, including creation, modification,synchronization, and deactivation.
- Ensure timely andaccurate updates to access rights based on role changes or employee status.
- Perform regularaccess reviews and audits to maintain security and compliance.
- Administer identity/accounts with Active Directory, Azure Entra ID, perform directorysynchronization, identity federation by SSO, and troubleshoot related issues.
3.System Monitoring & Routine Inspections
- Perform scheduledsystem inspections (daily/weekly/monthly) to verify server health, storagestatus, and backup integrity.
- Monitor systemavailability and performance using standard tools; respond to alerts andanomalies.
- Proactivelyidentify potential issues (e.g., capacity thresholds, hardware warnings) andrecommend corrective actions.
- Maintain systemdocumentation, including configuration baselines, inspection logs, and changerecords.
4.Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity
- Administer backupand recovery systems (e.g., Commvault, Veeam, Azure Backup) for both IT and OTenvironments.
- Regularly testbackup restoration processes to ensure data recoverability.
- Participate indisaster recovery planning and execution as needed.
- Recommend and provide procurementrequirements to ensure business continuity
5.Security & Compliance Support
- Supportvulnerability scanning and penetration testing activities; apply patches andsecurity updates as required.
- Ensure server, storage and accounts configurations align with internal securitypolicies.
- Assist in auditpreparations and remediation of security findings.
6.Microsoft Platform Support
- Administer andsupport Microsoft 365 (ExchangeOnline, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online)
- Manage hybridExchange setup and administration.
- Manage M365 user and license
7. MeetingRoom IT Equipment Administration
- Manage the fulllifecycle of meeting room IT equipment, including projectors, displaysconference cameras, microphones, speakers, and other audiovisual (AV) devices.
- Plan andcoordinate equipment upgrade and replacement projects, including requirementgathering, vendor selection, procurement, budget coordination, organizing installation and testing.
- Maintain anup-to-date inventory of meeting room IT assets, including device models,purchase dates, warranty status, and replacement schedules.
8. Helpdesk Escalation & Team Collaboration
- Act assecond-tier support for helpdesk escalations related to servers, access,storage, and Microsoft 365.
- Collaborate withother IT team members to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
- Participate in knowledge transfer anddocumentation to improve team efficiency.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in ComputerScience, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field; orequivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience workingwith the following technologies:
- Microsoft technologies: ActiveDirectory, Windows Server, hybrid Exchange
- Storage solutions: NetApp
- Backup and recovery systems:Commvault, Veeam, and Azure Backup
- Citrix technologies: XenApp,XenDesktop, and ADC/NetScaler
- Microsoft 365: ExchangeOnline, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online
