Job summary

PetroChina Canada is seeking a Field Operator to join the Duvernay Team in Calgary. The Operator will respond to daily operations and maintenance activities while meeting production targets and supporting field efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years oilfield experience, safety certifications, and strong troubleshooting skills. You will work with cross-functional teams, on-call nights, and contribute to cost control and reliability.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years oilfield operations experience.
  • Current safety qualifications (H2S, First Aid).
  • Ability to work in Calgary area with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day operational activities.
  • Review Cygnet to monitor wells and optimize performance.
  • Maintain safety, cost control, reliability targets.
  • Complete facility and production logs.
  • Support maintenance and on-call rotations.
  • Ensure SAP work orders and documentation accuracy.
  • Promote PCC values in daily operations.

PCC has invested billions of dollars in an asset-rich portfolio of upstream, midstream and downstream operations. In Alberta, this includes our MacKay River and Dover oilsands projects, Duvernay Shale Gas and a 50% interest in the Grand Rapids Pipeline. Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Coordinator The Operator will respond to daily operations and maintenance activities while meeting production targets. The Operator will support in optimizing field efficiency, performance and troubleshooting.



Accountabilities


  • Execute day to day operational activities

  • Review Cygnet to check wells, identify problems and opportunities for improvement and optimization

  • Work toward targets in the areas of safety, cost control, revenue generation, and organizational effectiveness by maintaining process targets

  • Share knowledge and provide expertise to assigned operating area

  • Act as focal point for troubleshooting, optimization and meeting operations targets to control key costs and improved reliability

  • Complete facility and production logs

  • Conduct work in compliance with company policies, standards and procedures

  • Ensure work orders are entered into SAP

  • Manage pigging, batching programs and chemical program

  • Manage PSV re-certification and Car seal program for the area and coordinate with Integrity group

  • Maintain all HSSE and technical competency requirements

  • Promote consistency within operating areas with regards to operating practices and work quality

  • Complete required documentation and inspections

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and optimization

  • Ensure cost tracking is maintained

  • Stamp, sign and code vendor work tickets, ensure rates and hours comply with work completed for Production Accounting purposes

  • Activate and respond to the emergency response plan

  • Be on call during nights while on regularly scheduled shifts

  • Assist Maintenance team as needed



Qualifications


  • 5+ years’ experience in oilfield operations

  • Fired Process Heater Operator Certificate or 4th Class Power Engineer certification would be an asset

  • Exposure to unconventional gas operations and/or project experience an asset

  • Current relevant safety qualifications i.e., H2S, First Aid

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with diverse personalities and work force

  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Computer skills related to Cygnet, Microsoft Suite e.g., Excel, Word

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize work to achieve them

  • Adoption and demonstration of PCC Values (Honorable, Unified, Passionate, Accountable)
