Job summary

AECOM Consultants Inc in Canada is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to lead hydroelectric projects, including generating stations, pumped-storage, dams and hydraulic structures. You will perform modelling, design and dam safety analyses while mentoring engineers.

You will collaborate across disciplines on infrastructure, environmental initiatives, and port/transport structures as needed, driving high-impact outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in hydraulic design for hydropower developments, hydraulic modelling, and dam safety engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of the HEC software suite (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, etc.).
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Fluency in French, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead and coordinate discipline-specific assignments.
• Prepare and author technical reports and calculation packages for hydraulic studies and analyses.
• Carry out feasibility studies, preliminary design, and detailed engineering for hydropower developments and pumped storage facilities.
• Perform hydraulic and hydrodynamic numerical modelling, including dam breach analyses.
• Conduct quality reviews and provide mentorship to engineers.
