Job summary

AECOM in Canada is seeking a Senior Heavy Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, integration, and implementation of major mechanical equipment for hydropower facilities and water-retaining structures. You will work with a multidisciplinary team across Canada and occasionally internationally, mentoring juniors and delivering projects on schedule and within safety standards.

This role requires a P.Eng.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
6+ years of experience in heavy mechanical equipment design for hydropower.
P.Eng. with OIQ eligibility.
French language proficiency required.
Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.

Responsibilities

Lead heavy mechanical systems design on hydropower and dam projects.
Define design criteria and ensure code compliance.
Perform engineering calculations and equipment selection.
Prepare technical deliverables including studies, drawings, specs, contract documents, and cost estimates.
Coordinate mechanical activities with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines.
Conduct site investigations and incorporate field conditions into design solutions.
Provide construction support including RFI responses and site inspections.
Participate in technical meetings with clients, suppliers, contractors, and partners.
Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technicians.
Ensure projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and health & safety objectives.
