Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our team for hydropower projects and dam safety in Canada. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams on hydraulic designs, modelling, and reports across hydro plants, pumped storage, and related infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in hydraulic design, fluency in French, and experience with HEC software. This is a full-time, hybrid position available in Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in hydraulic design for hydropower developments, hydraulic modelling, and dam safety engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of the HEC software suite (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, etc.).
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Fluency in French, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead and coordinate engineering professionals and teams for project delivery.
• Prepare and author technical reports and calculation packages for hydraulic studies and energy production simulations.
• Carry out feasibility studies, preliminary design, and detailed engineering for hydropower developments and pumped storage facilities.
• Perform hydraulic and hydrodynamic modelling using 1D/2D/3D models and assess dam safety.
• Conduct quality reviews and provide mentorship to engineers.
