Job description

Company Overview:

Jaunt Air Mobility Canada is an aerospace and air mobility pioneer dedicated to the design, certification, and high-rate manufacturing of clean-technology VTOL aviation platforms. Operating as a core pillar of the AIRO Group’s Electric Air Mobility division, Jaunt Canada leverages world-class aerospace engineering and localized supply chains to deliver industry-leading transport solutions. Our current flagship program, the Jaunt JC250, is an advanced hybrid-electric, slowed-rotor VTOL cargo platform engineered for high-endurance, high-reliability Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) logistics. Headquartered with a strong professional engineering and operational presence in Montreal and Mirabel, Quebec, Jaunt Canada is bridging the gap between abstract aerospace design and certified, real-world embedded implementation.

Position Overview:

As a Level 3 Senior Hybrid Powertrain Integration Engineer, you are a core member of the execution tier, responsible for leading the electrical and functional integration of the parallel-source hybrid architecture. In this role, you will own the configuration and localized validation of the high-voltage bus bridging the dual battery packs and the internal combustion engine generator unit. You will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary flight control, power electronics, and systems safety teams to ensure stable power distribution, manage high-voltage boundaries, and advance compliance documentation updates to secure platform maturity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate, analyze, and optimize the high-voltage (400V) DC power distribution network connecting the dual battery strings and generator source.
  • Configure and validate multi-source bus isolation strategies, including ideal-diode OR-ing layouts and solid-state non-backfeeding configurations.
  • Implement high-speed contactor management paths and tailored pre-charge circuits to safely manage switching transient loads and eliminate damaging inrush currents.
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate high-precision ground-fault detection arrays to actively monitor isolation metrics between the high-voltage bus and chassis ground.
  • Conduct specialized troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve complex high-power electromagnetic interference (EMI) and cross-talk abnormalities affecting signal line routing.
  • Document subsystem verification results, structural integration risks, and component margin reports to keep the master technical baseline current.

Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of multi-source high-voltage DC power distribution architecture, including isolation barriers, cross-conduction mitigations, and ideal-diode OR-ing frameworks.
  • Practical familiarity designing contactor management logic, custom pre-charge circuits, and multi-stage converter interfaces.
  • Hands-on exposure utilizing specialized laboratory instrumentation, such as high-voltage differential probes, power analyzers, and vector network analyzers (VNAs).
  • Competency in isolating, identifying, and addressing high-power electromagnetic interference (EMI), ground loops, and signal-integrity cross-talk over complex wiring routing structures.
  • Demonstrated history working with multi-channel battery management networks, active or passive balancing loops, and automatic isolation tracking units.
  • Strong team collaboration habits and cross-functional technical communication skills required to coordinate design boundaries across flight controls, safety, and mechanical groups.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
  • Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management, customers, visitors, vendors.
  • Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
  • Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
  • Ability to read, write, and understand French,
  • Correctable vision and hearing.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee may also be asked to perform other reasonably related job duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor as required. All employees may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time as needed. The AIRO Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
