Job description

Principal Airworthiness & Operational Analyst

Company Overview:

Jaunt Air Mobility Canada is an aerospace and air mobility pioneer dedicated to the design, certification, and high-rate manufacturing of clean-technology VTOL aviation platforms. Operating as a core pillar of the AIRO Group’s Electric Air Mobility division, Jaunt Canada leverages world-class aerospace engineering and localized supply chains to deliver industry-leading transport solutions. Our current flagship program, the Jaunt JC250, is an advanced hybrid-electric, slowed-rotor VTOL cargo platform engineered for high-endurance, high-reliability Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) logistics. Headquartered with a strong professional engineering and operational presence in Montreal and Mirabel, Quebec, Jaunt Canada is bridging the gap between abstract aerospace design and certified, real-world embedded implementation.

Position Overview:

As a Level 4 Principal Airworthiness & Operational Analyst, you will act as a vital technical anchor, owning the execution roadmap for unmanned aircraft regulatory validations and complex operational applications. In this role, you are responsible for securing flight authorizations, waivers, and type concessions for the JC250 platform, focusing primarily on Canadian aviation authorities while establishing baseline alignment with United States and European frameworks. You will merge deep practical knowledge of uncrewed aircraft operations with rigorous regulatory engineering to compile, validate, and present complex safety risk compliance packages, mitigating program risks across multi-disciplinary boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition, compilation, and submittal of complex operational approval frameworks to Canadian civil aviation authorities, securing specific beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) and high-criticality logistics waivers.
  • Own the development, verification, and presentation of comprehensive Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) documentation sets to support Specific Assurance and Integrity Level (SAIL) flight parameters.
  • Coordinate directly with internal flight controls, avionics, autonomy, and systems safety groups to align detect-and-avoid (DAA) and fault-management capabilities with civil airspace integration goals.
  • Evaluate vehicle flight manual limits, ground control workflows, and emergency contingency paths to ensure operational packages match real-world automated fleet constraints.
  • Direct formal regulatory technical meetings, coordinate responses to official finding panels, and manage civil airworthiness conformity review logs.
  • Provide day-to-day regulatory mentorship and advice to technical discipline leads, ensuring cross-functional engineering configurations remain aligned with international airspace validation tracks.

Qualifications:

  • Direct leadership history steering complex drone operational applications, high-criticality UAS waivers, or advanced aerospace airworthiness verification programs.
  • Comprehensive working background with unmanned aircraft system operations, BVLOS fleet constraints, or automated flight management environments.
  • Demonstrated history managing official interactions, compliance reporting loops, and formal technical panel presentations alongside civil aviation oversight groups.
  • Direct exposure to multi-modal data tracking architectures, vehicle flight manual generation, and system failure mitigation models.
  • Excellent cross-disciplinary coordination habits necessary to balance technical, manufacturing, and operational requirements tightly against strict regulatory timelines.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related technical discipline.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
  • Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management, customers, visitors, vendors.
  • Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
  • Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
  • Ability to read, write, and understand French,
  • Correctable vision and hearing.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee may also be asked to perform other reasonably related job duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor as required. All employees may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time as needed. The AIRO Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
