Job description

Company Overview:

Jaunt Air Mobility Canada is an aerospace and air mobility pioneer dedicated to the design, certification, and high-rate manufacturing of clean-technology VTOL aviation platforms. Operating as a core pillar of the AIRO Group’s Electric Air Mobility division, Jaunt Canada leverages world-class aerospace engineering and localized supply chains to deliver industry-leading transport solutions. Our current flagship program, the Jaunt JC250, is an advanced hybrid-electric, slowed-rotor VTOL cargo platform engineered for high-endurance, high-reliability Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) logistics. Headquartered with a strong professional engineering and operational presence in Montreal and Mirabel, Quebec, Jaunt Canada is bridging the gap between abstract aerospace design and certified, real-world embedded implementation.

Position Overview:

As a Level 3 Senior Avionics Systems Engineer, you will play a key technical role in the design, integration, verification, and validation of the JC-250 Cargo RPAS avionics architecture. You will be responsible for integrating aircraft avionics subsystems including the Flight Control Computer (FCC) System, Communications Management Units (CMUs), interfaces, sensors, and aircraft networks into a fully functional BVLOS autonomous aircraft.

Working closely with systems, software, electrical, flight controls, and supporting engineering teams, you will support the complete avionics development lifecycle from architecture implementation and laboratory integration through Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, ground testing, and flight test support. The successful candidate will help mature the JC-250 avionics platform into a certifiable production-ready system supporting Transport Canada, FAA, and international certification objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of avionics architectures, electrical interface definitions, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), system specifications, verification procedures, and other engineering documentation supporting aircraft development and certification.
  • Integrate and verify aircraft communication and navigation systems, including RF command-and-control radios, LTE/5G, satellite communications, Ethernet networks, GNSS receivers, inertial sensors, air-data systems, ADS-B, and other avionics equipment.
  • Lead aircraft-level integration and testing of avionics hardware and software using CAN, CAN-FD, RS-485, Ethernet, serial communications, discrete I/O, analog interfaces, and power distribution systems through laboratory, HIL, SIL, ground, and flight-test activities.
  • Develop automated test tools, telemetry software, and diagnostic capabilities, while analyzing communication networks, system timing, synchronization, and avionics performance to identify and resolve integration issues.
  • Support aircraft electrical integration, including wiring harnesses, connector definition, equipment installation, grounding, shielding, EMI/EMC compliance, and troubleshooting of avionics anomalies through root-cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, flight test, and certification teams to mature the JC-250 avionics system from development through production while supporting system safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Write and maintain modular hardware automation and data-logging scripts to capture raw system telemetry streams during hardware integration cycles.
  • Document physical bench layouts, configuration baselines, and test anomalies to keep the project technical baseline verified against systems engineering standards.
Qualifications:
  • Proven hardware-focused background inside active avionics integration setups, embedded hardware testing, or robotics engineering environments.
  • Practical capability mapping and reading aircraft electrical schematics, pinout tables, and complex communication interface control documents (ICDs).
  • Direct experience handling hardware data infrastructure, incorporating differential signaling networks, line terminators, and bus shielding boundaries.
  • Proficiency using electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and digital multimeters.
  • Technical familiarity working with airborne communication links, RF antenna parameters, or Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) configurations.
  • Basic coding literacy writing functional diagnostics scripts or automation tasks to manipulate, clean, or log hardware registers and message arrays.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Systems, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
  • Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management, customers, visitors, vendors.
  • Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
  • Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
  • Ability to read, write, and understand French,
  • Correctable vision and hearing.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee may also be asked to perform other reasonably related job duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor as required. All employees may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time as needed. The AIRO Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
