Job summary

Stantec’s Power team in western Canada is seeking Electrical Engineers to work on HV/EHV AC and DC substation projects across North America. You’ll join a multidisciplinary group to design efficient substations, coordinate planning, and ensure timely project delivery.

The role emphasizes 10+ years of experience in high voltage substations, P.Eng registration, and proficiency with PSSE/PSCAD/ETAP. A hybrid work model and travel to project sites are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Experience with PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP, CDEGS, WinIGS, MathCAD is an asset.
• Field experience in commissioning and testing is an asset.
• Knowledge of Civil/Structural and P&C is an asset.
• Strong computer skills: MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation.
• Interpersonal skills; ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering studies: power flow, short circuit, grounding, protection, insulation coordination, TRV, cable ampacity, bus.
• Design substations: switchyard layouts, grounding plans, cabling, AC/DC distribution, equipment specs, diagrams.
• Prepare technical specifications for major equipment, construction, and testing & commissioning.
• Provide technical support for procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Assist in proposals, project plans and estimates.
• Mentor and support junior Engineers.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to solve technical issues.
• Follow QA/QC procedures to deliver high quality engineering service.
• Conduct site visits to verify installation and define scope; provide site support.
• Drafting work may be required to complete deliverables.
