Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with leadership and have the autonomy to shape and build the HR department, overseeing all HR operations for our teams across multiple regions.
  • Take ownership of the entire HR function, ensuring alignment with the organization’s business objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on all HR-related matters, including employee relations, talent acquisition, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR professionals, ensuring the team is equipped to manage day-to-day operations and handle the increasing complexity of the growing organization.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve HR programs, policies, and initiatives, such as performance management, learning and development, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, and talent management.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to support the integration of new employees and cultures following mergers and acquisitions. Lead HR due diligence efforts and post-acquisition workforce integration.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and engage top talent in a competitive marketplace. Ensure alignment with business goals and work to create a strong employer brand.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions (major provinces in Canada and USA). Develop risk mitigation strategies and manage employee relations issues in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Foster a dynamic and inclusive work environment that supports the company's values and goals. Champion initiatives that drive employee engagement, culture-building, and diversity and inclusion.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of HR experience in a generalist role, preferably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or equivalent (Asset)
  • Retail experience is preferred
  • Strong experience in building and scaling HR functions, with exposure to M&A activities.
  • Enjoys challenges, building new structures, and problem-solving in a growing organization.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance in Canada and the USA.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build strong relationships with leadership and employees at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and with the ability to use data to drive HR decisions.
