Job summary

Rising Edge Group is seeking a Senior Commissioning Technologist to lead commissioning, testing and maintenance of HV power equipment in the field. You’ll mentor juniors, interpret prints, manage risk, and operate diverse test gear on-site across Alberta and beyond.

The role offers full-time permanent employment with opportunities to travel between regions, and a strong emphasis on safety and professional development within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in electrical engineering required.
• 4+ years of field testing and commissioning experience.
• Hands-on substations experience (600V–500kV).
• Familiar with transformers, HV switches, breakers, CTs, PTs, NGR, capbanks.
• Experience with Omicron, Doble, AcSELerator, Digsi and Enervista software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong safety, environmental and health practices.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Able to work in adverse weather; willing to travel and stay out of town.

Responsibilities

• Commission and test high voltage equipment in field.
• Mentor junior technicians and aid in risk management.
• Set up and operate standard/specialized test equipment on-site.
• Interpret drawings, analyze test results, and recommend actions.
• Supervise and train junior staff; work with various test devices.
