Job summary

Rising Edge Group is seeking a Senior Commissioning Technologist to lead commissioning, testing and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment in field settings. You will handle HV substations, set up advanced test gear, mentor junior technologists and ensure adherence to safety and industry best practices across projects.

Responsibilities include testing breakers, transformers, relays, protection schemes, and SCADA interfaces, with travel and long hours on rotation as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 4+ years of field testing and commissioning experience.
• Hands-on substations experience (600V to 500kV) is required.
• Familiar with power transformers, high voltage switches, breakers, CTs/PTs, NGR, and Capbank.
• Experience with testing software such as Omicron Test Universe, Doble M4000, AcSELerator, Siemens Digsi, GE Enervista is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.
• Commission and test high voltage equipment including breakers, transformers, switches, CTs, PTs, and capacitor banks.
• Commission protection and control relays from major vendors.
• Commission control circuits for protection, indication, and monitoring systems.
• Perform acceptance and maintenance testing from 600V to 500kV.
• Install, commission, and maintain protection and control equipment including SCADA in HV substations.
• Mentor and train junior technicians.
• Operate manufacturer test equipment (Omicron CMC356, Cibano, CPC100, Votano, Testrano; Doble M4100, SFRA; Megger megohmmeter, 10A Ductor; Broman 100A Ductor; Megger TTR; Dilo and SMC Gas Analyzers; VLF and AC Hipot).
