Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Heavy Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and integration of mechanical equipment for hydropower facilities and water-retaining structures across Canada. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in the design of heavy mechanical equipment for hydropower facilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical lead for heavy mechanical systems on hydropower and dam projects.
• Establish design criteria and engineering basis for mechanical systems and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Perform or oversee engineering calculations, analyses, and equipment selection.
• Prepare, review, and approve technical deliverables, including studies, drawings, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering activities with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines.
• Conduct site investigations and field assessments, and incorporate existing site conditions into design solutions.
• Provide technical support during construction, including shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, site inspections, and commissioning activities.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, suppliers, contractors, and project partners.
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technicians.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of projects by meeting schedule, budget, quality, and health and safety objectives.
