Job summary

AECOM in Canada is seeking a Senior Heavy Mechanical Engineer to design, integrate, and implement major mechanical equipment for hydropower facilities and water-retaining structures. You will work within a multidisciplinary team delivering projects across Canada and internationally.

The role requires a P.Eng. or eligible, 6+ years of relevant experience, and strong French language skills. Hybrid work model and travel as needed are supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• P.Eng. with OIQ eligibility or registration.
• Fluent French communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead heavy mechanical systems for hydropower and dam projects.
• Define design criteria and ensure codes compliance.
• Perform calculations and equipment selection.
• Review technical deliverables and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines.
• Support construction activities and site inspections.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
