Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Senior Group Insurance Underwriter to assess risk and make decisions on assigned cases, including renewals and reporting. You will interact with all group departments and may own processes and policies across the caseload.

The role requires reliability clearance and offers a potential career path within the department, with opportunities for growth and CEBS designation support.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A strong mathematical mindset and curiosity.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage shifting priorities.
• Experience in Group Underwriting and knowledge of group products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Quoting, negotiating, and authorizing risk within authority levels.
• Ensuring adherence to policies and underwriting guidelines.
• Managing pricing and annual renewal of rates and expenses for in-force caseloads.
• Producing financial reports and service agreements for caseloads.
• Quoting new business and communicating decisions promptly to clients and advisors.
• Building relationships with peers and internal business areas.
• Meeting with senior leaders as appropriate.
• Acting as an underwriting resource for projects and initiatives.
