Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions in Canada is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to own firmware for machine vision cameras. You will work with FPGA, hardware, and software teams on embedded platforms from design through release, driving real-time performance improvements and reliability.

You will lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across imaging, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust camera solutions used in automated systems.

Qualifications

• Expert embedded C development and working knowledge of C++.
• RTOS, bare-metal, interrupt-driven, and DMA-based system design.
• Firmware-to-FPGA interfacing and Ethernet/USB protocols.
• Experience debugging hardware with schematics, datasheets, and oscilloscopes.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and strong communication skills.
• 8+ years (Bachelor’s), 6+ years (Master’s), or 3+ years (PhD) of relevant experience.
• Degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, CS, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded firmware in C for camera platforms.
• Build low-level drivers and board support functionality for FPGA-hosted processors.
• Define processor-to-FPGA interfaces, including register maps, DMA paths, and interrupts.
• Develop and maintain GenICam, GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, and related interface stacks.
• Optimise real-time performance, memory use, and streaming throughput.
• Support board bring-up, debugging, and firmware releases.
• Investigate customer-reported issues and platform-level technical challenges.
• Collaborate with FPGA, hardware, manufacturing, and test teams.
• Lead technical reviews and contribute to project planning.
• Mentor engineers through design discussions, reviews, and knowledge sharing.
