Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions seeks a Senior Firmware Engineer to craft embedded firmware for camera platforms powering machine vision applications worldwide.

You will develop low-level drivers, define processor-to-FPGA interfaces, and contribute to GenICam and USB3 Vision stacks while improving real-time performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Expert embedded C development and working knowledge of C++.
  • RTOS, bare-metal, interrupt-driven, and DMA-based system design.
  • Firmware-to-FPGA interfacing and communication protocols (Ethernet, USB).
  • Experience debugging hardware using schematics, datasheets, oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded firmware in C for camera platforms.
  • Build low-level drivers and board support for FPGA-hosted processors.
  • Define processor-to-FPGA interfaces, including registers, DMA, interrupts.
  • Develop and maintain GenICam, GigE Vision, USB3 Vision stacks.
  • Optimise real-time performance, memory use, and streaming throughput.
  • Support board bring-up, debugging, and firmware releases.
  • Collaborate with FPGA, hardware, and test teams.
  • Lead technical reviews and contribute to project planning.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions and reviews.

Senior Firmware Engineer, Machine Vision Cameras

Join Teledyne FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions and help turn advanced image sensors, FPGAs, and embedded processors into products used in automation, robotics, inspection, measurement, and intelligent transportation systems. You’ll work alongside FPGA, hardware, and software engineers, owning firmware components from design through release while helping shape the next generation of imaging platforms.

What you’ll do
  • Design and develop embedded firmware in C for camera platforms.
  • Build low-level drivers and board support functionality for FPGA-hosted processors.
  • Define processor-to-FPGA interfaces, including register maps, DMA paths, and interrupts.
  • Develop and maintain GenICam, GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, and related interface stacks.

  • Investigate customer-reported issues and platform-level technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with FPGA, hardware, manufacturing, and test teams.
  • Lead technical reviews and contribute to project planning.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions, reviews, and knowledge sharing.
What you need
  • Required: Expert embedded C development and working knowledge of C++.
  • Required: RTOS, bare-metal, interrupt-driven, and DMA-based system design.
  • Required: Firmware-to-FPGA interfacing and communication protocols such as Ethernet and USB.
  • Required: Experience debugging hardware using schematics, datasheets, and oscilloscopes.
  • Required: Demonstrated technical leadership and strong communication skills.
  • Required: 8+ years (Bachelor’s), 6+ years (Master’s), or 3+ years (PhD) of relevant experience.
  • Required: Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Advantage: Experience with Xilinx/Intel FPGAs, machine vision standards, embedded Linux, image processing, scripting, or FPGA development.

Salary Range: $93,700.00-$124,900.000 The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
