Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated in Canada (Richmond, BC) is seeking a Principal FPGA Engineer to shape the architecture for advanced industrial imaging systems, balancing performance, cost, reliability, and scalability across multi-site teams.

You will mentor FPGA designers, define RTL standards, drive security features, and collaborate with product, hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to bring complex designs from concept to production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required.
  • Strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
  • Extensive FPGA development experience with VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog is required.
  • Experience with FPGA toolchains from AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microchip is required.
  • Proven FPGA/firmware integration experience including processors, memory controllers, and register maps is required.
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up and lab debugging experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Define FPGA architecture strategy across industrial camera platforms.
  • Lead and mentor a team of FPGA designers, providing technical guidance.
  • Establish RTL standards, design methodologies, and reusable IP practices.
  • Drive FPGA security features including bitstream protection and secure updates.
  • Select FPGA devices and manage resource budgets to optimize cost, power, and longevity.
  • Serve as final technical authority for FPGA architecture decisions and firmware integration.
  • Conduct design reviews covering RTL, schematics, memory maps, interfaces.
  • Lead FPGA build, release, automation, and regression infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with product, manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams across sites.
  • Evaluate emerging FPGA technologies, tools, and design approaches.

Salary Range

$114,200.00-$152,300.000
