Job summary

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to lead consolidation and reporting activities in St. John’s.

You will prepare quarterly and annual statements, support internal and external reporting, and collaborate with diverse teams to meet deadlines. The role requires strong IFRS expertise, a business degree, and a CPA designation, with experience in utilities or capital-intensive industries considered an asset.

Qualifications

• IFRS knowledge and 5+ years of financial reporting experience.
• University degree in business and CPA designation.
• Experience with IFRS-compliant financial statements or auditing is an asset.
• Experience with JDEdwards, Clarity, Spreadsheet Server or similar tools.
• Knowledge of regulated utilities or energy sectors is an asset.
• Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Senior Financial Analyst

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including supporting schedules, disclosures, and related reporting deliverables.
• Prepare and review monthly internal reporting and analysis to provide timely, reliable information for decision-making.
• Support the annual external audit process by preparing schedules, coordinating documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Collaborate with business units and cross-functional teams to gather financial information, support reporting requirements, and meet shared deadlines.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes, strengthen efficiency, and support continuous improvement within the finance function.

What You’ll Need:

• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible financial reporting experience.
• A university degree in business and a professional accounting designation, such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
• Experience preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements or working in financial auditing is an asset.
• Experience with accounting and financial software, such as JDEdwards, Clarity, Spreadsheet Server, or other financial reporting tools, is an asset.
• Knowledge of regulated utilities, oil and gas, energy markets, or other capital-intensive industries is an asset.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
