Job summary

WSP’s Resources subsector, part of our Energy, Resources & Industry business line, supports mining and heavy industrial clients across Canada.

Based in one of our Ontario offices - ideally in Northern Ontario, Greater Toronto Area, Saskatoon SK, St John's NL - as a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will design electrical power systems for new construction and brownfield projects, guiding concepts through completion.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of electrical engineering design in heavy industrial facilities.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario; other jurisdictions a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of CSA, ANSI, IEEE and building codes.
  • Proficiency with power system modelling tools.
  • Experience with instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
  • Experience in mines, mills, refineries, ports, or material-handling facilities.
  • Valid driver's license and site access.
  • Collaborative, multi-discipline team player.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical power distribution and control systems for safe industrial operations.
  • Conduct power system studies (load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash) using ETAP or EasyPower.
  • Prepare specs and data sheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers.
  • Oversee design across power distribution, motor control, lighting, grounding, lightning protection.
  • Incorporate regulatory compliance, safety, and risk into design.
  • Lead engineering calculations and verify design via field reviews.
  • Coordinate design across disciplines and offices.
  • Mentor junior staff and grow electrical talent.
