Human Resources Manager at Acero Engineering

Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a growing facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement, and construction management expertise, is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill a contract role as a Senior Electrical Engineer/Lead (15+ years of experience).

Acero specializes in facility and pipeline engineering, procurement, and construction management services—from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core offerings include in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, and construction management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop project deliverable lists, schedules, engineering hour estimates, and capital cost estimates for small to large projects.
  2. Interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients, and vendors during all project phases to enhance team efficiency and deliverable quality.
  3. Develop hazardous area classification drawings, load lists for medium and low voltage systems, power system design/study, power system philosophy and coordination, review ETAP or Easy Power reports, design PLC and control system architectures, PLC cabinet layouts, I/O schematics, cable schedules, lighting calculations, installation details, electrical building layouts, generator sizing.
  4. Develop data sheets, material requisition packages, evaluate bids, and purchase MV and LV switchgear, VFDs with heat exchangers, MCCs, transformers, relays, UPS, generators, grounding resistors, PLC components, electrical heat tracing equipment, cable bus, motors, metering panels, alarm systems, and more.
  5. Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to plan, organize, and supervise project activities to meet objectives.
  6. Provide engineering input and technical oversight to design/drafting staff.
  7. Estimate capital, expense, and engineering costs for projects in collaboration with other disciplines.
  8. Perform field inspections and on-site construction support.
  9. Complete all other necessary operations to satisfactorily perform the role of Senior Electrical Engineer/Lead.
  10. Possess understanding of I&C capabilities, which is highly beneficial.
  11. Perform additional tasks as required.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in Oil and Gas Facilities in Western Canada.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with CEC and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
