Shermco Canada is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Engineer (P.Eng.).
Role: Electrical Power Systems Engineer (P.Eng.) Based in Calgary, reporting to the Engineering Manager, the engineer will design, maintain, and improve electrical systems for clients. The position reports to our Saskatoon or Regina office, with remote work considered. Applicants with partial experience in the responsibilities will also be considered.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:- Provide leadership for the growth and development of junior engineering staff.
- Manage, plan, and execute electrical projects across various industries.
- Perform electrical analysis and design for industrial and utility sectors.
- Design and integrate protective relaying (SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider, etc.).
- Develop substation automation systems (SEL RTAC, RTU, HMI, Communications, etc.).
- Conduct electrical studies: short-circuit, device coordination, arc-flash, load flow, grounding, harmonic studies.
- Create, review, and approve electrical drawings: single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and general arrangements.
- Design and modify electrical distribution systems: MCCs, switchgear, transformers, protective devices.
- Troubleshoot electrical system issues and develop solutions.
- Support field services for maintenance and commissioning activities.
- Perform onsite inspections and data collection.
- Assist in engineering sales, including estimates and proposals.
Qualifications
Qualifications:- Four-year Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation from a Canadian licensing body.
- Minimum 5 years of power systems engineering experience, including design and fieldwork.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with EasyPower, SKM, ETAP is an asset.
- Knowledge of microprocessor-based relays is an asset.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Valid driver's license for travel and fieldwork.

Pay Range
CAD $93,600 - CAD $156,000 per year.
