Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking a Senior Director, Project and Infrastructure Finance to lead a team delivering project finance and PPP transactions. You will drive growth in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and other opportunities, shaping loan structures and managing risk.

You will oversee deal teams, partner with Risk Management, Capital Markets and Relationship Managers, and contribute to RBC's national PIF mandate with strong financial modelling and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• Must have proven project finance execution experience with senior debt credit knowledge.
• Must have leadership experience overseeing deal teams.
• Strong ability to model and interpret financial sensitivity and scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee deal teams to drive revenue growth and deliver financing solutions to project developers and consortiums.
• Lead deal teams to pitch, structure, prepare term sheets, negotiate, deliver, document, close syndicated and bilateral senior debt transactions.
• Build and maintain relationships with RBC partners (Risk Management, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Relationship Managers).
• Provide market analysis to support guidance on loan structures that meet client objectives.
• Assess risk and return profiles for PIF transactions to inform client strategies.
• Maintain a business pipeline with leadership to win new business and close loans.
• Monitor the PIF loan portfolio and report material risk shifts with recommendations.

What is the opportunity?

As Senior Director, Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF), you’ll lead a team in structuring, delivering, and managing project finance and public-private partnership (PPP) transactions and will play a key role in contributing to the realization of Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives. You will bring your extensive market experience, leadership, financial modelling and structuring skills to drive growth in support of the national mandate of the PIF team, with a particular focus on enhancing capabilities related to energy transition and other areas of opportunity.

What will you do?

• Lead and oversee deal teams to drive revenue growth and deliver financing solutions to project developers and consortiums
• Play a key role in business growth in renewable energy, digital infrastructure and other opportunities/segments, by leading deal teams to pitch, structure, prepare indicative term sheets, negotiate, deliver, document, close syndicated and bilateral senior debt transactions, including due diligence, credit submissions and transaction presentations
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with RBC partners including Group Risk Management, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Relationship Managers, and others
• Provide market and industry analysis to support CCG guidance on optimal loan structures that meet client objectives
• Lead assessment of risk and return profiles for PIF transactions to inform client strategies and transaction responses
• Work closely with PIF leadership team to maintain a business pipeline, participate in winning new business and close loan transactions sufficient to meet revenue plans.
• Lead the management and monitoring of the Project and Infrastructure Finance loan portfolio, including timely reporting of material shifts in risk, client needs, and structure, and provide recommendations for action including new marketing opportunities.

What do you need to succeed?
Must have:

• Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics or a related field
• 6-8 years of demonstrated experience in project finance transaction execution with senior debt credit knowledge, experience with renewable energy and non-recourse project finance
• Proven experience in overseeing and leading deal teams
• Strong ability to model and interpret financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
• Effective communication, negotiation, interpersonal and client relationship skills, and ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills
• Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel

Nice to have:

• MBA, CPA, CFA or other relevant professional designation
• Bilingual (French/English) communication skills
