RBC is seeking a Director, Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF) in Toronto to structure, deliver and manage project finance and PPP transactions. You will lead deal execution from pitch to close, coordinate with clients and external advisors, and help grow RBC's PIF pipeline nationwide.

You will bring market experience, financial modelling and structuring skills to drive growth in support of the PIF team's national mandate.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with focus in Business, Economics or related field.
  • 3–5 years in project financing with senior debt credit knowledge in renewables or non-recourse project finance.
  • Strong financial and credit skills with ability to model and interpret sensitivity and scenario worksheets.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; proficient with PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Structure and deliver project loan transactions in renewable power and other assets.
  • Act as primary contact for credit submissions and deal presentations.
  • Develop and maintain a PIF pipeline to win new business.
  • Monitor PIF loan portfolio and report risk and client needs.
  • Provide market data and analysis to support marketing and deal structuring.
  • Collaborate with risk management and capital markets to position RBC.
  • Mentor Associate Directors PIF.

Job description

What is the opportunity?

As Director, Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF), you will contribute to structuring, delivering, and managing project finance and public-private partnership (PPP) transactions and will play a key role in contributing to the realization of Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives. You will bring your market experience, financial modelling and structuring skills to drive growth in support of the national mandate of the PIF team.

What will you do?
  • Under the direction of Managing Director (MD) and Senior Directors PIF, structure, deliver (pitch through to deal close), negotiate and monitor syndicated and bi-lateral project loan transactions in renewable power and other asset classes
  • Primary point of contact for and ownership of credit submissions and transaction presentations, including transaction structuring, documentation and coordination with clients and external legal counsel, other external advisors; work with Senior Directors and Associate Directors PIF to coordinate work, and transaction milestones within deal teams to ensure timely and seamless deal execution
  • Support the CCG PIF mandate to develop and maintain a business pipeline, win new business and close loan transactions sufficient in number to meet goals
  • Support the management and monitoring of the PIF loan portfolio, including timely reporting of material shifts in risk, client needs, and structure, and provide recommendations for action to MDs and Senior Directors PIF, including new marketing opportunities
  • With the support of Associate Directors, provide research, analysis, and data (market, industry, client, and competitor) to support PIF marketing and advice on indicative term sheets, deal structures and execution
  • Provide analysis and support to PIF and CCG Sr. Management for advice on risk and return associated with loan transactions contemplated
  • Conduct financial modelling work with the support of Associate Directors PIF and formulate lending base and downside cases under the guidance of Senior Directors PIF
  • Partner with CCG relationship managers, risk management, and Capital Markets to effectively identify relevant opportunities and deliver the full suite of RBC banking products and ensure optimal positioning of RBC to capture the ancillary wallet of borrowers
  • Full engagement on client services, with RBC partners and functions including Credit Transaction Management, Global Loans Administration, Ratings & Monitoring, Agency Services and others
  • Develop leadership skills through coaching and mentoring Associate Directors PIF
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
  • Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics or a related field
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in project financing transaction execution with senior debt credit knowledge, experience with renewable energy and non-recourse project finance
  • Strong financial and credit skills, with ability to model and interpret financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel
  • Effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
Nice to have:
  • MBA, CPA, CFA or other relevant professional designation – ongoing or completed
  • Bilingual (English/French) communication skills
