Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Specialist, Database to join the Infrastructure & Operations team. You will support, optimize, and enhance enterprise database solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms, contributing to project delivery and providing leadership through mentorship and technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise database environments, application development, database administration, or database engineering.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Exadata, DB2 LUW and DB2 z/OS.
• Strong understanding of database design, administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting and support best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and drive results.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work under pressure while supporting critical production systems and incidents.
• Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build partnerships with application teams, stakeholders, and technology partners to deliver database solutions.
• Design, implement, maintain, and support database environments with performance and availability.
• Perform database administration activities including tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, remediation, and production support.
• Collaborate with project teams to support new initiatives and database-related implementations.
• Contribute to data models that align with business and technology requirements.
• Create and maintain database objects and related components.
• Document standards and best practices to support operational effectiveness.
