Job summary

Select People Solutions is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to join a client's commercial construction team in Lethbridge. You will provide senior oversight from pre-construction to closeout, guiding project teams and ensuring safety, quality, and financial performance.

The role requires at least 7 years of progressive construction experience, strong leadership, budgeting and scheduling skills, and the ability to manage multiple sites and stakeholders across Alberta.

Qualifications

This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing complex construction projects from pre-construction through completion while ensuring projects meet expectations for quality, schedule, safety, and financial performance. The successful candidate will bring extensive commercial construction experience, strong business acumen, and the leadership skills to guide project teams, strengthen client relationships, and drive successful project delivery.

Compensation & Hours:

Position Summary:

• Provide senior-level oversight of commercial construction projects from pre-construction and planning through completion and closeout
• Lead, mentor, and support Project Managers, Site Superintendents, Coordinators, and other project personnel to ensure successful project execution
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, forecasting, procurement, change management, and overall financial performance
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve challenges, manage relationships, and maintain project momentum
• Review project documentation, construction requirements, and potential risks while ensuring quality, safety, contractual, and regulatory standards are met
• Work closely with senior leadership on estimating, resource planning, process improvements, and operational strategies that support continued growth and project success

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive construction experience, with significant experience managing commercial construction projects
• Proven experience leading complex projects and providing oversight across multiple active construction sites or project teams
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, contracts, drawings, specifications, estimating, and project controls
• Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, change orders, forecasting, procurement, and financial performance
• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring Project Managers, Superintendents, and other construction professionals
• Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment
• Strong working knowledge of construction management systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office
• Valid Driver's Licence, clean driving abstract, and ability to travel to project sites as required

Bonus Points For:

• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline
• PMP designation, or other relevant construction/project management credentials
• Experience with design-build commercial construction
• Experience contributing to pre-construction, estimating, and business development activities
• Established knowledge of the Southern Alberta commercial construction market
