Job summary

Select People Solutions is seeking a Business Analyst for our client’s team in Alberta. The role focuses on analyzing financial and operational data, developing reporting, and delivering insights to leadership to drive informed decisions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in business/financial analysis, strong Excel skills, experience with Power BI, and a collaborative mindset to support multiple departments from finance to project management.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in business or financial analysis role
• Experience with reporting and BI tools such as Power BI or similar
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational information
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience developing reports, tracking tools, dashboards, or other data-driven resources
• Budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and KPI understanding; project or job costing is an asset
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and present to leadership

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial, operational, and project data to identify trends, variances, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, forecasts, and performance metrics to provide leadership with clear and actionable information
• Review project costs, budgets, productivity, resource utilization, and other KPIs to support planning and decision-making
• Collaborate with finance, project management, estimating, and admin teams to ensure data is captured, coded, tracked, and reported
• Evaluate workflows, reporting practices, and processes, recommending improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Support development and optimization of business systems and tools including construction management, accounting, and data-tracking platforms

The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, finance, project, and administrative teams to analyze operational and financial information, improve reporting processes, and provide meaningful insights that support informed business decisions.

Position Summary:

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in business or financial analysis role
• Experience with B2W, QuickBooks, Power BI, or similar reporting and business intelligence tools
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational information and translate findings into practical recommendations
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience developing reports, tracking tools, dashboards, or other data-driven resources
• Proven understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and key performance indicators; experience with project or job costing is considered an asset
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present information clearly to leadership

Bonus Points For:

• Previous experience within construction, civil construction, heavy equipment, or another project-based industry
• Experience with construction management, ERP, or accounting software
