Job summary

Michipicoten First Nation is seeking a full-time temporary Senior Accounting Clerk to handle day-to-day payments for members through community programs and standard vendor payments. The role includes payables management, HST rebate processing, and financial reporting support.

The position requires post-secondary accounting education, 2 years of experience, and the ability to work with a diverse community. Valid driver's license and vehicle are preferred. 9/22/2026 application deadline.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Willingness to pursue a First Nations Financial Management Certification preferred.
  • Two years of experience within a similar role preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and complete Purchase Orders, ensure transactions comply with internal policies.
  • Ensure PO and invoices match; enter invoices into accounting software.
  • Process invoice batches and prepare EFT/cheque payments for approval.
  • Maintain payment schedule; ensure signing authorities are available and payments on time.
  • Know Chart of Accounts; code transactions for department, funding source and expense type.
  • Maintain vendor files, travel claims, petty cash, and other financial information.
