Job summary

Sovereign Insurance in Halifax is seeking a claims professional to join the National Commercial Auto team. You will investigate, evaluate and determine coverage, negotiate settlements, and apply policy and legislation to deliver strong customer service.

With 2–5 years of commercial claims experience and a university degree, you will work in a hybrid model (in-office twice weekly) and may cross-train across Injury, Liability and Property lines as part of career development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of commercial claims experience.
• University degree/college diploma preferred in a related field.
• Experience with Commercial Auto (Bodily Injury, General Liability, Third Party Property Damage) is an asset.
• Knowledge of Policy Wordings and Claims Handling procedures.
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) courses completed or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Directing, adjusting and examining coverages for Commercial Auto PD losses to determine coverage.
• Investigating claims within authority and guiding adjusters, vendors, and solicitors to meet standards.
• Demonstrating knowledge of insurance coverages, claims handling procedures and negotiation tactics.
• Maintaining appropriate reserving in line with corporate philosophy.
• Fostering relationships with internal and external contacts.
