Job summary

Northbridge Financial Corporation in Canada seeks a Senior Claims Technical Specialist to join the Casualty and Litigation team. You will investigate, assess coverage, liability, and damages while coordinating with third parties and counsel to drive claims to resolution.

Hybrid work is available with up to two days from home per week. The role emphasizes adjudicating complex claims, mentoring junior adjusters, delivering clear decisions, and maintaining a strong customer experience.

Qualifications

• JD/LLB preferred or equivalent legal experience in complex insurance claims handling
• At least 10 years of liability claim handling experience
• Strong knowledge of E&O, D&O, and Cyber Liability claims
• Experience with commercial lines is an asset

Responsibilities

• Adjudicate complex claims, including files in litigation
• Confirm coverage and conduct liability investigations
• Prepare file summaries for internal reporting, large losses, and reinsurance
• Provide training to new hires through shadowing sessions and mentorship
• Support and mentor other adjusters and manage a busy day-to-day schedule
• Deliver clear decisions to claimants while maintaining customer experience

What it’s like to be a Northbridge Senior Claims Technical Specialist:

As a Senior Claims Technical Specialist, you will be part of a dynamic team that prides itself on having a sharp eye on detail while keeping the customer experience top of mind. The Casualty and Litigation team handle a variety of claim across several lines of business, including Auto, CGL, Directors’ and Officers’, and Professional Liability claims. Our Senior Claims Technical Specialist are responsible for providing efficient and prompt investigation, assessing coverage liability, and damages while working directly with third parties and counsel to drive the claim to conclusion. We want your talent!

If you are great at:

• Adjudicating complex claims, including files in litigation
• Confirming coverage and completing a liability investigation
• Preparing file summaries for internal reporting, large loss, and reinsurance
• Managing stressful calls and clearly deliver decisions on claims
• Provide training to new hires through job shadowing sessions
• Support and mentor other adjusters on the team
• Effectively managing a busy day to day schedule
• Providing a great Customer experience

And you have:

• Juris Doctor (JD/LLB) degree is preferred, and/or applicable experience with legal principles as they relate to complex insurance claims handling
• A minimum of 10 years of liability claim handling experience
• Deep knowledge and hands‑on experience handling Errors & Omissions (E&O), Directors & Officers (D&O), and Cyber Liability claims.
• Experience with commercial lines an asset

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $140,000, which reflects the expected base pay – not the total compensation package. The actual base salary may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the position.
