Senior Category Development Manager

Reporting to the Director, Sales Strategy, the primary objective of this role is to lead the development and execution of customer-centric category strategies, focusing on collaboration with retail partners to drive category growth and maximize business opportunities. This role will work cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales and Revenue Growth Management to analyze data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to improve category performance. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to retail customers, delivering tailored strategies and solutions that align with Clover Leaf’s business objectives.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail partners to understand their goals, challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide detailed category reviews, presentations and insights tailored to customer needs to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Analyze category performance, consumer trends and market data to develop strategies that enhance category growth.
  • Lead the creation of actionable plans for assortment, pricing, shelving and promotions based on insights and collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with retail partners on planogram reviews and recommendations to optimize shelf space and improve category performance.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to create and present space management strategies that align with customer and Clover Leaf objectives.
  • Partner with Marketing and Revenue Growth Management to align brand strategies and ensure execution at the customer level.
  • Work closely with Sales to develop retailer-specific plans that drive both category and Clover Leaf brand performance.
  • Use syndicated and customer data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to internal teams and retail partners.
  • Monitor and report on category and market performance, identifying risks and opportunities to inform decision-making.
  • Identify innovative solutions to category challenges and implement strategies that address customer-specific needs.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to proactively adapt strategies and maintain a competitive edge.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Category Management, Sales, or Marketing within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
  • Experience in the Canadian retail market and/or seafood category is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using syndicated data and Space Planning tools (e.g., NielsenIQ, Blue Yonder, Circana, and retailer POS systems).
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and with external customers.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute data-driven strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Solution-oriented and innovative mindset with a results-driven approach.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building and maintaining relationships.
