Extendicare Maple View Home in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, is seeking an Assistant Director of Care to lead nursing services, support the DOC, and ensure resident-centered care.

You will guide quality improvement, risk management, data reporting, and staff development while maintaining high standards of geriatric care. The role emphasizes mentoring staff, collaboration with the care team, and active involvement in infection control and MOH LTC legislation.

Qualifications

• Experience in long-term care settings and managing nursing staff.
• Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and risk management.
• Familiarity with RAI-MDS processes and geriatric care principles.
• Experience in infection control and patient safety practices.
• Experience delivering adult education and staff development.
• Experience leading and mentoring in a resident-centered care environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DOC in implementing and evaluating nursing quality improvement initiatives.
• Lead risk management, data collection/analysis, and reporting.
• Coordinate best practice and risk programs for resident care.
• Support RAI-MDS program and unit-level care planning.
• Mentor staff in Resident Home Areas and oversee care quality.
• Investigate occupational health and safety issues and update work programs.
