What does the Senior Buyer - Systems and Analytics do?
Working in either our Whitby or Peterborough office, the
Senior Buyer – Systems and Analytics is a key contributor to the Purchasing team, focused on enhancing procurement operations through data analysis, system optimization, and process improvement. This role specializes in SKU and parts data management, identifying efficiencies in inventory practices, and leveraging ERP systems such as SAP and Epicor to improve performance. The ideal candidate combines traditional buying experience with strong technical and analytical capabilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain SKU and parts coding systems to ensure accuracy and alignment across departments.
- Utilize ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Epicor) to manage procurement data and streamline purchasing processes.
- Analyze inventory data and procurement trends to optimize stock levels and reduce overstock or shortages.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to identify and implement process improvements that drive efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Warehouse teams to support accurate and timely product availability.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and KPIs using advanced Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to monitor procurement performance.
- Participate in vendor evaluations, onboarding, and performance tracking with a focus on data accuracy and system integration.
- Support technical projects related to procurement software upgrades or system enhancements.
- Maintain ERP master data integrity to ensure reliable, accurate procurement and inventory information.
- Coordinate with internal teams on demand planning and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with contracts and quality standards.
What do you need?
- Diploma or degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications in SAP, Epicor, or procurement-related tools are considered an asset.
- 5+ years in a procurement, supply chain, or inventory-related role, ideally in a senior or analytical capacity.
- Proficient in ERP systems; SAP experience required, Epicor experience considered an asset.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, macros); Power BI or other BI tools experience preferred.
- Familiarity with SKU management, inventory analytics, and procurement best practices.
- Organizational and multitasking skills and the demonstrated ability to balance multiple projects involving large revenues and a high degree of complexity.
- Strong verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
