Job summary

Associated Engineering in Calgary seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead design teams and manage complex bridge projects across Alberta. You will deliver technical leadership, planning, and client service while guiding junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; post-graduate degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • 20+ years of bridge engineering experience in the consulting industry.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Committed team player and highly self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and provide technical expertise on bridges and civil structures with a primary focus on client service for Provincial and Major Urban clients.
  • Lead a structural team in analysis, design, evaluation and preparation of calculations and drawings for bridge projects.
  • Prepare technical reports following analysis, modelling, and design calculations.
  • Prepare proposals and participate in business development/marketing initiatives for the group.
  • Prepare bid and contract documentation.
  • Monitor, control and report project status internally and externally.
  • Aid in financial arrangements for projects including fee forecasting, preparation, and allocation.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate staff.

Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Bridge Engineer to join our team in our Calgaryoffice. In this role you will be responsible for carrying out detailed technical work and leading design teams while managing projects within the defined budget, and quality requirements. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team active on several exciting bridge projects throughout Alberta. You will work with the Transportation Structures team carrying out detailed technical work and leading design teams while managing projects within the defined budget, and quality requirements. Our project teams are proud to have contributed to recent projects such as Stoney Trail over the Bow River Bridge in Calgary, Southwest Anthony Henday Drive Upgrades in Edmonton, and the Edmonton-Strathcona Footbridge, a signature pedestrian bridge.

What you’ll do:

Does this sound like you?
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university; post-graduate degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in bridge engineering within the consulting industry.
  • Superior planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Committed team player and highly self-motivated.
  • Related experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and City of Calgary is an asset.
  • This position will require occasional travel.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
