Job summary

Associated Engineering in Calgary is seeking an experienced Intermediate/Senior Transportation Engineer to lead transportation projects focused on highways, roads and related infrastructure. The role offers flexible/hybrid work arrangements depending on position and a path for career growth.

You will provide technical leadership, advance projects through design and construction, and mentor a team of engineers. Strong communication, organization, and travel within Alberta are essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• 15+ years of progressive transportation experience.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, as a P.Eng with APEGA.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Committed team player with ability to work independently.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to travel within Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on transportation projects from concept through construction.
• Lead design, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents in highway projects.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to meet schedules.
• Mentor engineers and technologists in the Calgary office.
• Collaborate across disciplines and offices to deliver quality outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

• Providing project technical leadership role with a team in the preparation of designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents, as well as participating in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, contract administration, and inspection as required.
• Advancing projects through the concept, design, and construction phases.
• Regular communications with clients to confirm expectations throughout all project phases.
• Delivering projects within identified schedules.
• Mentoring and coaching a team of engineers and technologists.
• Engaging in a collaborative work environment with your team as well as other disciplines and offices.

• Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution, with key transportation electives or transportation project experience.
• 15+ years of progressive transportation experience.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Committed team player and the ability to work independently.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Ability to travel within Alberta.
