Job summary

Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned company, is seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer to join our team in our Edmonton or Calgary office. You will lead design teams, perform detailed technical work and manage projects within budget and quality requirements.

Ideal candidates have a Civil or Structural Engineering degree, PEng with APEGA, and 5+ years of bridge engineering experience in the consulting industry, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer with APEGA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural team in analysis, design, evaluation and preparation of calculations and drawings.
  • Prepare technical reports following analysis, modeling and design calculations.
  • Prepare proposals, bid and contract documentation.
  • Monitor, control and report project status internally and externally.
  • Assist with fee forecasting, preparation and allocation.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Leading the structural team in analysis, design, evaluation and preparation of calculations and drawings.
  • Preparing technical reports following technical analysis, modelling, and design calculations.
  • Preparing proposals, bid and contract documentation.
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting project status internally and externally.
  • Aiding in financial arrangements for projects including fee forecasting, preparation, and allocation.
  • Providing guidance, including mentoring, and instruction, to junior staff.
Does this sound like you?
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university; post-graduate degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in bridge engineering within the consulting industry.
  • Superior planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Committed team player and highly self-motivated.
  • Related experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors is an asset.
  • This position will require occasional travel.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
