Job description

Job Opportunity: Accountant / Bookkeeper

A growing local Vineyard and Farm Management operation in the Niagara area is seeking an Accountant / Bookkeeper to start immediately. This is a stand-alone position requiring presence in the office Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Job Duties :
  1. Responsible for oversight of all company payroll and accounts payable processing.
  2. Manage government remittance and filings including WSIB, EHT, PD7A's, T4's, HST, ROEs.
  3. Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash for multiple companies.
  4. Process journal entries and handle inter-company accounts and transfers.
  5. Provide clerical and administrative support to management as needed.
  6. Assist with government grant applications.
  7. Support all bookkeeping functions across all companies, including year-end file and financial statement preparation.
Requirements / Qualifications :
  1. MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 3 YEARS OF QUICKBOOKS ONLINE EXPERIENCE, PLUS :
  2. Degree in Accounting or Finance, or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  3. At least 2 years of accounting, finance, or payroll experience dealing with multiple small companies.
  4. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Intermediate knowledge of payroll processing programs, legislation, reporting, and contractual language.
  6. Understanding of accounting fundamentals, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgets, and year-end preparation.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
