About the Opportunity
Bookkeeping & Accounting
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Prepare and review month-end and year-end accounting activities.
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and financial records.
- Prepare basic financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
- Assist with payroll and related accounting requirements.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies and accounting issues.
Compliance & Reporting
- Assist with tax filings, remittances, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare supporting documentation for audits and year-end activities.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial files and documentation.
Quality Control
- Review accounting records and work completed by junior team members.
- Identify and correct errors, discrepancies, and reconciliation issues.
- Maintain consistent bookkeeping practices and procedures.
- Ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
Client & Team Support
- Communicate financial information and accounting matters clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with client onboarding and accounting system setup.
- Support budgeting and financial planning activities as required.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to junior bookkeeping staff.
- Delegate tasks and monitor the quality and timeliness of work.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain accounting systems and ensure financial information is properly recorded.
- Document accounting processes and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
- Support the implementation of new accounting tools and processes.
About You
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Several years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong full-cycle bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Online.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent Excel and general computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is an asset.
Salary Range
$65,000 - $70,000 / year
This position for employment is for a current vacancy with Vaco/Highspring’s client.
You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
