Job summary

• Understanding of general accounting principles and balance sheet management.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute full-cycle accounting, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and reconciliations.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and process improvements.
• Support intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and general ledgers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to obtain information and resolve issues.
• Leverage ERP systems to research transactions and improve reporting accuracy.
• Assist with financial statement prep and audit support.
• Participate in continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls.

Our Client is looking for a Senior Accountant for a 6 month contract.

Location: 2-3 days on site in Mississauga

This position is primarily focused on full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and corporate accounting activities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly analytical, and possesses strong systems and process improvement capabilities.

The successful candidate will have experience working with large ERP systems, strong balance sheet reconciliation skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting issues with minimal supervision.

About the Opportunity

• Manage and execute the full-cycle accounting process, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and account reconciliations.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies, trends, and potential process improvements.
• Support corporate accounting functions, including intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and general ledger maintenance.
• Collaborate with operational and business stakeholders to gather information and resolve accounting issues.

• Assist with financial statement preparation and audit support activities.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA certification.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate accounting environment.
