Job summary

MNP in Calgary is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Assurance & Accounting team. You will provide tailored financial information to help clients make informed decisions and support mid-market clients through evolving reporting requirements.

The role emphasizes CPA qualification progress, hands-on audit work, collaboration with senior staff, and opportunities for travel as needed. You will contribute to client engagements, mentoring junior team members and business development.

Qualifications

• CPA designation pursued or completed is required/strongly valued.
• CFE passing is considered an asset.
• 2–4 years of relevant public accounting experience.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and SEC where applicable.
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audit engagements.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform AR/AP, asset acquisition/disposition and payroll walkthroughs with clients.
• Summarize clients’ financial status with balance sheets, P&L and reports.
• Assess and ensure audit evidence is appropriate for expenses, revenues and assets.
• Review, investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, client summaries and presentations of engagement findings.
• Mentor junior team members and develop client relationships.
• Contribute to business development and identify new opportunities.
• Travel Flexibility as required.
