Job summary

MNP LLP is seeking a Senior Accountant in Calgary to join our Assurance & Accounting team. You will manage client files, prepare balance sheets and statements, ensure audit evidence quality, and mentor junior staff while building strong client relationships in a dynamic, growth-focused firm.

The role emphasizes technical GAAP/IFRS/SEC expertise, collaborative problem solving, and opportunities to contribute to business development while travelling when needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a CPA designation is required.
• Passing the CFE is considered an asset.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC and IFRS.
• Experience working with accounting and tax software.
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development.

Responsibilities

• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and inventory counts.
• Perform AR, AP, asset acquisition/disposition and payroll walk-through with clients.
• Summarize clients' financial status with balance sheets and income statements.
• Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and payables.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and posting entries.
• Prepare correspondences, reports, client summaries and engagement highlights.
• Develop working relationships with clients and mentor junior staff.
• Participate in business development and identify new opportunities.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary.
