Job summary

MNP in Canada seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Assurance & Accounting team. You'll help deliver compilation, review and tax engagements, manage client files, and provide timely financial reporting to support informed business decisions.

This firm values entrepreneurial spirit and client service excellence. Expect exposure to mid-market clients, mentorship of junior staff, and opportunities to contribute to business development while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years of public accounting experience.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, ASPE and IFRS.
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compilation, review and tax engagements.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walk-through with clients.
• Summarize clients’ financial status by preparing balance sheets, income statements and reports.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
• Prepare entries for posting to accounts and establish charts of accounts.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and engagement highlights.
• Develop working relationships with clients while mentoring junior team members.
• Participate in business development and identify new opportunities; travel as needed.
