Job summary

Davidson & Company in Calgary, AB is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Assurance practice. You will lead and support audit and review engagements for private companies, not-for-profits, and owner‑managed businesses, working closely with managers and partners to deliver high‑quality assurance services.

You will mentor junior staff, develop client relationships, and contribute to technical accounting discussions while ensuring compliance with ASPE, ASNPO, and CAS.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• CPA designation or successful CFE completion.
• 3–5 years of public practice experience focusing on assurance.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, CAS and Canadian standards.
• Experience leading audits and reviews from planning through completion.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent client relationships and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute audit and review engagements for private enterprises, not-for-profit organizations, and other assurance clients.
• Plan engagements, assess risk, and design audit procedures to address identified risks and areas of concern.
• Prepare and review complex working papers, financial statements, and supporting documentation in accordance with ASPE, ASNPO, and other applicable accounting standards.
• Analyze financial information, identify unusual transactions, and investigate accounting issues or variances.
• Review the work of junior staff, providing coaching, training, and constructive feedback to support their development.
• Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and technical accounting matters to managers, partners, and clients.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing responsive service and trusted business advice.
• Assist clients with technical accounting issues, financial reporting requirements, and operational challenges.
