Job description

About Us

At Davidson & Company, our people are our greatest strength. From our humble beginnings in 1984, our entrepreneurial spirit has grown our firm to over 200 professionals, making us one of the largest independent CPA firms and the leading public auditor in Canada.

Based in the heart of downtown Vancouver, and southwest Calgary, we provide audit, tax, and advisory services to a diverse global client base. We’re excited to connect with talented professionals who want to be part of building something new while benefiting from the stability and reputation of an established firm. Unlike larger, more rigid accounting firms, Davidson offers the opportunity to explore multiple facets of the profession and shape your career in a way that’s meaningful to you.

From day one, you’ll work alongside experienced industry leaders who are invested in your growth—while making a real impact for our clients and helping shape the future of our firm in both British Columbia and Alberta.

About the Role

Davidson is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Assurance practice in Calgary, AB. In this role, you will lead and support audit and review engagements for a diverse portfolio of private companies, not-for-profit organizations, and other owner‑managed businesses. What You'll Be Doing

No two days look the same, but your core responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and execute audit and review engagements for private enterprises, not-for-profit organizations, and other assurance clients.
  • Plan engagements, assess risk, and design audit procedures to address identified risks and areas of concern.
  • Prepare and review complex working papers, financial statements, and supporting documentation in accordance with ASPE, ASNPO, and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial information, identify unusual transactions, and investigate accounting issues or variances.
  • Review the work of junior staff, providing coaching, training, and constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and technical accounting matters to managers, partners, and clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing responsive service and trusted business advice.
  • Assist clients with technical accounting issues, financial reporting requirements, and operational challenges.
What You'll Bring
  • Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • CPA designation or successful completion of the CFE.
  • Minimum 3‑5 years of public practice experience, with a strong focus on assurance engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, CAS, and Canadian assurance standards.
  • Experience leading audits, reviews, and financial statement engagements from planning through completion.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
